HFFG Partners NCCE for Citizenship Week
Civic Education is a shared responsibility.
As part of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE)’s 2019 Citizenship Week, the Executive Director of HFFG, Cecilia Lodonu-Senoo volunteered to speak to the pupils of the Kanda Cluster of Schools in Accra on good sanitation practices.
The NCCE’s Citizenship Week Celebration forms part of the annual constitution week activities organized nationwide. Each year the initiative creates a platform for people in leadership positions to volunteer to educate school children on issues of national concern.
The theme for this year was: “A Clean Ghana, Our Responsibility”.
As a not-for-profit organization that forms partnerships aimed at improving the health and socio-economic status of women, children and young people, Ms Lodonu-Senoo used her expertise in behaviour change communication interventions to enlighten the pupils on the need for them to keep their homes and surroundings clean.
With the help of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Materials, she demonstrated to the pupils the various effects of pollution and living in an unkempt environment.
Pupils were equally encouraged to separate plastic wastes from organic wastes to protect the environment.
The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) is a government agency responsible for the education of Ghanaians on civic matters.
